Previous Fundraising Projects
After several years of travelling a considerable distance to access a hydrotherapy sessions, Cleaswell Hill aimed to eliminate additional costs for transport and reduce the impact of travel time on the children’s education by fundraising for a specialist on-site hydrotherapy pool.
Thanks to the generous donations and valued support from pupils, staff, parents, carers, members of the local community and grant providers, enough funds were finally raised allowing the build of the pool to commence in 2018.
The hydrotherapy pool was officially opened on the 3rd of October 2019 by Stephen Miller MBE and celebrated with a family fun day for the local community.
The hydrotherapy pool is now an invaluable asset to the pupils with special educational needs and disabilities that attend Cleaswell Hill School and is regularly hired for evening sessions by members of the local community for a nominal fee.
Staff, students, parents, carers, members of the local community and The Foyle Foundation grant awarding body generously fundraised to create an inclusive library at Cleaswell Hill School in 2020. The library now features exciting, engaging and inclusive reading resources such as E-readers, audiobooks, sensory books, interactive books, books for visually impaired students and books for dyslexic students. The library is used on a daily basis by children with special educational needs and disabilities for reflection and reading for pleasure.
Generous donations from staff, parents, carers, pupils, grant awarding bodies and members of the local community to Cleaswell Hill Foundation (Registered Charity No 1000697) enabled the creation of an inspiring, interactive and inclusive sensory room at Cleaswell Hill School.
This specialist resource facilitates the development of sensory regulation, emotional regulation, independence, motor planning, self-esteem, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, concentration, social skills, thinking skills and visual-perceptual skills for children with complex needs within a safe, stimulating environment.
Following its completion in 2022, the sensory room is utilised daily, including after school and school holiday periods, by the children with special educational needs and disabilities that attend Cleaswell Hill School and members of the local community.
