A module for practitioners who work directly with autistic children in settings.
What will this module cover?
- The exclusion process, lawful and unlawful exclusions and avoiding disability discrimination.
- Reflect on one’s own role in the exclusion process.
- How a pupil’s autism might affect their behaviour.
- The impact of exclusion on autistic pupils and their families.
- Consider and understand the duty to make reasonable adjustments, as a way of avoiding incidents that could otherwise lead to exclusion.
- Identify ways to ensure a successful reintegration/transition back to school to avoid future exclusions.
Who is this module for?
This module is for leaders and leadership teams within education settings who provide an educational provision for autistic pupils up to 25 years old.
It would also be beneficial for practitioners who work with autistic pupils up to 25 years old and attend an educational provision who are keen to minimise exclusions.
- Early Years Professionals, e.g. Nursery Teachers, Class Teachers.
- School Education Professionals, e.g. Teachers.
